Without knowing energy, you cannot approach your soul.

The vitality of our chakras is an essential part of our health and wellbeing. When our bodies chi, or life force energy is out of alignment, it may lead to physical or mental illness. However, there are various techniques that can be used to heal imbalanced chakras or to prevent further disparity.

Reiki, acupuncture, and acupressure, are all examples of modalities that can be performed by a practitioner to stabilize the chakras and the chi energy force of the body. Reiki sessions typically consist of light touching or hovering over the body in certain ways that correspond to the chakra system being attended to. Reiki is well-known to significantly decrease anxiety, help with pain management, and a variety of other physical, mental, and spiritual blocks. Both acupuncture and acupressure work to restore the body’s balance and stimulate the chi. Acupuncture uses a similar method to reiki of aligning with the chakras to administer healing, but with the use of needles in particular points on the meridians of the body.

Chakra meditations can be incorporated into daily life to keep the chakras steady by either focusing on a particular chakra that is ailing you, or working to open the chakra system as a whole. Concentration on chakras during yogic activities stimulates the flow of energy through the chakras to help activate them. This wakes up the dormant parts of the brain and the corresponding physic and mental bodies that allows one to experience a level of consciousness usually inaccessible.

Tools such as crystals, aromatherapy, and color therapy can be embraced to accentuate the healing process. rystals are one of the most common instruments used in correspondence with chakra healing. The color and shape plays a large role in selection of crystals for the healing process depending on the location and type of pain that is being experienced . Healers can place or hold crystals above or on the body to induce the healing vibrations from the stones, while participants perform exercises or meditations. Massage using a blend of herbs in an oil is a common way, along with ritual baths. Oil burning, anointing, and inhaling are also ways to use aromatic oils. Crystals can be used in addition to these methods to even further increase the remedy. Some herbs that correlate with the various chakras include ashwagandha for the root chakra, slippery elm for the throat chakra, and lavender for the crown chakra. Color Therapy can be used in simple everyday decisions that can help bring your energy back into equilibrium. Wearing, eating, or choosing objects to surround yourself with can help to balance your chakras. For example, if you are feeling low on energy, it might be a good idea to wear orange today or eat a carrot. If you want to relax, using violet as part of your day might help to change your mood. These colors directly relate to the chakra system, orange for sacral chakra and violet for crown chakra. Therefore, they work to balance the organs and emotions associated with them

Tai Chi, Qigong, yoga and other energy movement practices are also ways to get the chi energy flowing in the body and aura to bring the body back into balance. Each of these modalities work through the energy in the body which in turn, balances each chakra. However, certain moves in a practice are designed to be more focused on a particular chakra for healing. For instance, in yoga, there are common moves made to open the heart center. These movements also open the heart chakra to good and pure energy while draining the negative. Grounding movements such as goddess squat, help to balance the lower chakras, while the crown and third eye chakra respond well to child's pose

The vitality of our chakras and energy field can directly interfere with our everyday life. If our energy is out of balance, we can expect the rest of our daily lives to also be a bit off. There are many ways we can incorporate healing into our day in simple ways like color therapy and meditation. Next time you wake up on the wrong side of the bed, try breathing into your third eye or heart chakra with intention to release built up tension. And remember, “Without knowing energy, you cannot approach your soul.” (Ilchi Lee, 2010).
